Miley Cyrus made news last week with a carnival like stage performance at the MTV Awards. The show included life size teddy bears, flesh coloured underwear, and plenty of gorgeous quivering brown buttocks. Almost immediately after the performance many viewers, television hosts, media all went on a rampage at how she could put on a show like that. The comments were something like distasteful, shocking, and many coloured people thought that is was inappropriate of Miley to dance - "twerk" like she did, (so say the press releases).

Yet I look back at the awards, and think, Yes Miley has grown up, She is no longer the sweet and innocent girl anymore. However it was a show. A show to entertain, a show to flaunt her body. To show people she is amazingly beautiful. Her skin is perfect, her waist line to die for, and above all, she can do what she wants when she wants. Can't she?
I am not a fan of Miley Cyrus, but I don't agree with people mocking others for the way they look.

I think, that as long as you are not upsetting yourself with any particular routine, that you are fit and healthy, then there is nothing wrong with showing people that you love who you are, and that you are happy. Did Miley seem unhappy at all? I think far from it.  For once, why doesn't the media, embrace women for their beauty and state, " Miley, Congratulations, you are a beautiful, carefree, and talented woman".

Wearing these gorgeous black 'Just Design' shoes called Charme. It made me think of the expression Dead as a Doornail. It appears that this reference dates back to the 1300's where it was mentioned by our favorite poet -  Shakespeare. But why particularly a doornail, rather than just any old nail? Could it be because of the repetition of sounds, and the much better rhythm of the phrase compared with the version without door? Almost certainly the euphony has caused the phrase to survive for generations. 

The usual reason that the expression from what I can find is given the name doornail was one of the heavy studded nails on the outside of a medieval door, or possibly that the phrase refers to the particularly big one on which the knocker rested.  A doornail, because of its size  would seem dead enough for any proverb; the one on which the knocker sat might be thought particularly dead because of the number of times it had been knocked on the head.

Anyhow, you have to love history, if it wasn't for history we wouldn't be here now.

Summer in Australia can be magical, warm, and unbearably hot. What some people don't tell you is that in the summer Australians suffer from many blackouts across the land. Spring and summer storms can also cause blackouts that may last eight hours or more from downed power lines and blown transformers. The storms don't last long, but the power outage can be for quite some time.

As Australian's seem to get used to blackouts we find many ways to make the time enjoyable.      
Some of which includes, grabbing a lantern, or lighting candles, pulling out the ole deck of cards, or just relaxing outside and remembering how to talk again - away from the computers, away from the games that children can't seem to put down.

Bringing back the laughter and the fun is what needs to occur.

So what do you do when there is a blackout? Just relaxing here soaking up the warm summer evening sun, I bring to you the beauty of Eyelure and our destination for today.

This week I decided to mix it up a bit. My weeks have been so hectic of late that the term slowing down is not a verb in my dictionary.

After all, what is the use of coaching staff about managing people's performance when all I seem to be doing of late is saying 'Goodbye' to people as their tears flow and I am the one to say, "I'm sorry we no longer have a job for you as I escort them out the door". No wonder I come onto SL and escape when my world at present is so negative.   I so hate my job sometimes, working in Human Resources, managing transitions, people, listening to their complaints, listening to their whines. I don't think I have had a happy day for about two weeks.. So does that mean I need a change? Perhaps...or maybe I just need to do something different afterwards.

In saying the above though,  I love routine. Love it. I love the tried and true methods that work well.
I often tell people about how fantastic routine can be. I extol the virtues of boundaries.
 Yet, I was not always such a person, was I? While never exactly intrepid, I was once a little adventurous, wasn't I?   Well, suffice to say, a breath of fresh air was long overdue so I conducted three experiments.  First, I altered my fitness routine. I did the same circuit of exercises in the gym, but I changed the order in which I do them. I wanted to see how I would feel after and what impact the change would have on my workout. I expected to be muddled, do fewer exercises and barely break a sweat.  The surprising result was that I worked harder and finished sooner. I expended more energy in a more efficient way and forgot to think about the bad day/s that I had at work.

Secondly, I tried a different route on a walk I make every day. This change was forced upon me by an unforeseen hitch called child taxi.  But in the spirit of making the best of things and avoiding recriminations, I went with the challenge of taking a different route. The astonishing result was that the new route was quicker. Thirdly, I laid down at night and started watching Game of Thrones, and threw my book to the side.

Taking a different route in life sometimes is good for the soul, so is taking a walk to our fantastic destination below - The Thrift Shop where everything is under $100L.

I heard an expression the other day and I thought, that's me!  "Why is my needle stuck in childhood?
I don't know why, I guess it's because that's where my heart is."....

This destination today reminded me of my childhood, and how everything seems vibrant and alive and the colours seem to just take your breath away. I am not sure whether you're the same, when I was a child I remember cheering on Simba when he fought Scar. I remember booing at Ursula when she took Arial's voice. I remember fighting the Huns with Mulan. I remember the wind through my hair, running feeling like Pocahontas, imagining I was with my handsome prince. I remember being locked in the Beast's castle, and thinking I was Rapunzel with my long hair. I laughed and laughed at Tom and Jerry, and had lots of dances with Mickey and his friends and many times, I was fascinated by the stories and tales of adventure that I so miss now.

So for our destinations today I have two great adventures that you must visit.
The amazing creations from Matroosha which is hidden at the back of another amazing store - Shey and the place of many colours called The Beguiled: Art Gallery and Studio.

There is nothing I enjoy most than taking a trip to the harbour to gaze down at the water lapping the rocks below and to breathe in the smell of salt fresh air. After a full day at work, just having the sun on my face and the feeling of warmth on my body seems to take all my anxieties away.

Getting excited as I opened the large red box that lay inside my inventory, folded perfectly inside was a gown folded into a square that came in many different colours. I drew it out of its box and shook it out, then it revealed its true glory as I took in the elegant beauty of today's glorious dress from Shey.
Shey have remarkable outfits that come with a hud where you can change the colours of the top or the bottom according to your styles and desires at the time.

Coming to you at this latest destination called Blueberry Harbour, the sites and sounds, you can almost imagine feeling the sun on your skin. Close to a bustling cafe nearby makes me yearn for a nice warm cup of coffee just to sit and take in the sites and sounds of our destination for today.

As I live quite a distance from the city I get quite anxious and excited when heading to the 'big town' for the day.  The city of Sydney is not like NY with over many millions of people walking down the street, but it does get crowded. This country girl still gets a suprise each time I visit just to see how hurried everyone is and how layed back we are only a couple of hours away.

This destination today reminded me of my many visits to the city and how each person brings something unique to their style and way of fashion.  Bringing to you the delights of 'Gabriel' with this low back number which comes in many different and exciting colours. Our destination today created the atmosphere and sounds of the city which I love but can't wait to get home.

Why we dream is still one of the greatest unanswered questions. Many books and authors offer different theories—memory consolidation, emotional issues, threats, past lives, anger, and hurt, to feel free of all the above. Nevertheless, people continue mining their nighttime reveries for clues to their inner lives, for creative insight, and even for premonitions.

When we were young we never thought about our dreams, in fact we always made believe our lives. We daydreamed and imagined our lives and escapades as princesses, the good witch in the land of oz, ballerinas, soliders, and perhaps even a damsel in distress. We were free in our dreams with not a care in the world.

So be it at this destination today, feeling adventurous and happy as I tried out the gorgeous new designs of Shey coupled with the magic of Elephante.

You too can be a child again, so why not come for a visit at our destination for today.
