#692 When all we want to do is fly...


Walt Disney said: That's the real trouble with the world, too many people want to grow up! 

There is a child that exists in all of us. For some, this little boy or girl is buried alive just from living, changing to what society wants and adapting to being a grown up. As we uncover the child spirit, we experience the emotions, the thoughts and even the behaviours that have been repressed for decades.  

We need to learn to embrace our inner child at whatever age and stage it shows itself to us and to remember to be carefree in some of the small things that we do. There is a time to be adult, and a time to be a child, we need to remember the fun things we used to do. 

Like eating a chocolate ice cream cone and having hundreds of thousands poured over it..who cares what people think as it drips onto the pavement as you slurp up the drips up the side of the cone. 

When we were children, all we wanted to do was step into our dad’s shoes or mom’s sandals.  We wanted to be an adult, and fast track our life.... 

If life though had a rewind button, just for one day, so we could live that carefree life once again and learn to imagine a world of play....

#594 Save a life...



In my last post, I was talking about how we all need love at some time in our life. Our animals are not alone in this regard. Even though I am holding a SL cat, In America, according to the ASPCA, we call it RSPCA in Australia, a mere 37% of cats who enter American animal shelters are adopted. Less than 5% reunite with their families. The remaining cats are euthanized. Feral, shy, sick, scared, injured, old, pregnant mom cat’s, mom’s with newborn kittens and orphaned kittens are generally euthanized in animal shelters.  We can do better. We can save more lives. It takes us all working together, each doing our part to make a difference. No action is too small.

Whether you adopt your pets from local animal shelters and rescues or foster a pet you are helping to improve the above dismal statistics. You are making a difference. Below are four actions that can make a difference and that you can do from the comfort of your own home and get some exercise while you at it.

1. COLLECT ALUMINUM CANS
Collect aluminum cans, save them up and cash them in. Donate the funds you make to your local animal rescue/shelter to help save more lives. If there is a specific pet in need at the shelter (i.e. special needs cat who needs funds for a surgery), you can donate towards the cause.

 2. DONATE NEW OR GENTLY USED TOWELS AND BLANKETS
Animal shelters and rescues can always use new or gently used towels and blankets. Blankets and towels are used to line pet carriers (when traveling to and from the veterinarian or to their adoption). Blankets and towels are also appreciated by the pets waiting for adoption, as while they wait they can have a soft place to snuggle up on and call their own. So rather than throw out that old clean towel, why not donate towards an animal shelter.

3. TAKE SHELTER DOGS TO LOCAL DOG PARK WITH BANDANNAS
Organize a small group of volunteers to walk the shelter/rescue dogs at a local park once a week. Each week, have the adoptable dogs wear their “Adopt Me” bandannas on your walks. This is a great way to provide much needed exercise for the dogs and increase exposure to the community- of dogs in need of homes. You’ll increase adoptions and provide an enjoyable walk for the dogs at the same time and have some fun while you’re at it.

 4.  VOLUNTEER 1X/WEEK/FORTNIGHT/WEEKEND
The key is to volunteer on a regular basis or at least when you can. What does your local animal shelter or rescue need? Do they need help with cleaning cages, or someone to hold the cats for a while at the shelter, perhaps even someone to walk the dogs? Find out what they need and make a plan to help. Set a date and time to come each week or fortnight, or when you can, and spend time with the animals. Not only will you be making a difference by lifting the spirits of the pets who are waiting for adoption, you can increase adoptions by taking photos while volunteering and sharing them on your social media pages and with your friends, family and co-workers. Spread the word that you’re volunteering and invite others to join you and to come to the shelter to adopt. It all helps.

#572 Ana at Lavende de Bonnieux



I am quite excited to tell you and can’t believe it myself, but will be opening to the public my small homestead which I have lovingly named: - ‘Lavende de Bonnieux’.
This homestead is based on the provincial lifestyle, To the eyes, it's a symphony of color: the silvery green olive trees, the slow flowing sea and overcast sky, as you enter the world of the old and the new, which is the Provence. The rustic old houses with their old fashioned shutters—all bathed in the most wonderful light with the smell of coffee amidst the lavender scent as you walk around amongst the cobble pathways.

To the nose it's the lavender and spring fields, the imagination of the thyme and rosemary that grow in the wild, the wine left to breathe in the glass with the vineyards in the distance. To the mouth it's the taste of olive oil, garlic, basil, figs and the countless varieties of fruit and vegetables. To the skin, it's the kiss of the sun. To the heart, it's being overcome by these sensations, giving in to these delightful contrasts, forgetting everything but the moment, knowing that this is life and this is Lavende de Bonnieux.
So without further ado, Here is a sneak preview of part of the build for my site, a long way to go yet, which will open in May/June with more information to follow later.

#460 What's the time Alice with GizzA Creations


For my number '460' post, Here I am chasing the silly 'grey' rabbit in this case down these long and winding stairs at Flux Sur Mer. This time though I have brought my spare little clock courtesy of my friend Alles Klaar, and I never can seem to make a time stick. Am sure she agrees!! :)

#435 Hold my Hand with Zerkalo, Lassitude and Ennui and Bauhaus Movement

Others can walk past a plant for a whole life and never even notice the color of its blossoms, but the botanist knows every beat of its heart and the turning of the petal." -Doc to Peekay in The Power of One

I loved Bryce Courtney's books and most of all loved reading Tandia, and the Power of One. Reading about nature at it's best and the people in Tandia made me dream of visiting that beautiful land one day. This quote above is one that I have integrated in my life. In our society today, Nature has unfortunately become a quiet voice in the background to many people. With the tsunami in Japan and the other natural disasters that have been occurring at what seems to be a faster more intense rate, perhaps it is time we start paying attention to what mother earth is all worked up about.

For eg: Whether or not you believe there is a spiritual side to the nature around you, or whether global warming is happening or if its ethical to manipulate our natural surroundings as we have with the sprawling cities, pollution and over consumption of natural resources, we are all a part of this natural world whether we like it or not. We need to be more aware of the cycles and its warnings that are now available to us in this technological society. We can live in better harmony with the world that has supported us for thousands of years and hopefully thousands more.

I suggest why don't we create an earth day in your life every week or an earth day for the office once a month. To take a day to step out of your office, take off your shoes, scrunch your feet in the soil and grass, go sit in the park, relax, soak up that sun and listen to the harmony of the birds. Get away from the hustle and bustle for an hour. Turn off the mobile, do something that honors the connection we all have to the natural world around us.  If you don't have time for that, then next weekend buy a potted plant and place it on your desk. Let it soak in that oxygen, and watch it grow.

See if you can find the breath of nature. Don't think about it.. Feel it.

#429 Justice is served someone stole the wine WALK THE PLANK with Lassitude and Ennui


Lassitude and Ennui are part of one awesome event on at the moment called Tag Gacha.
I am super excited to be part of TAG Gacha! this month. The theme is titled 'Sideshow', and there seems to be trouble at the sideshow that a troupe of little cat figurines, one of them is guilty of drinking all the wine and will be walking the plank!!.(Blinfolded ready to take the plunge), and we all know that cats can't swim.. Justice is served.. I wonder though, could it be one of the pigs?

 With her glimmering grey fur and her shimmering green scales, the Fiji Purrmaid is a beautiful and disarming sight. When she was scooped up in a tuna net off the Fijian coast, the captain and all the crew fell in love with her on the spot. Unfortunately, they were so distracted by fighting over her that nobody remembered to steer the ship. It ran aground on the Australian coast, and Siluri escaped into Moreton Bay. But, just as she was about to swim out to sea, something caught her eye. It was Bruce the Brisbanian Barbarian, bench-pressing sharks on the beach. This time, it was her turn to fall in love - and this time, the feeling was mutual. Now, Siluri amazes visitors not just with her mysterious half-fishness, and not just with her beauty, but with her bold and terrifying trick: jumping into a full bathtub! or out to sea :).
