#654 NY Resolutions with 'Emily Simone'..

The year is wrapping up. Can you believe it? I’m still in a state of disbelief. As usual for this time of year, I have been thinking a lot about the New Year, what I want it to look like and how I want it to feel like emotionally. But, this year I want my resolutions to be different in a major way.

I’m not very good at setting goals. I can’t get a grasp on what’s realistic and what’s not, so I usually skip the whole process altogether to avoid letting myself down.

But there’s something in the air for 2017, and it feels good, so I decided to set some goals for this year and share them with you because seriously if I could skip the whole of 2016 I would.

No doubt, I’d like to skip out my front door each day, whistling a happy tune, down a path sprinkled with gold fairy dust. I’d really like that but we all know that isn’t real, so here are my three goals for 2017.

They may or may not be relevant to you, but they’re things I’ve been needing to change for a while, and hopefully they give you a bit of motivation. It’s onwards and upwards from here!

1. NO PUTTING THINGS OFF.
If something is bothering me or hanging over my head, I’m going to deal with it straight away. This year is all about getting it done and moving on, even when someone has peeved me off, don't hesitate just tell them.

2. BE LESS INDECISIVE.
I’m the annoying dinner date that just actually can’t decide whether I want a Pinot Gris, Pisco Sour or Classic Margarita. This year I’m putting a limit on the time I allow myself to make decisions, and I’m going to be confident in my choices.

3. TO LIVE LIFE AS PLAY

Yes, this may be the oddest sounding resolution you’ve ever heard, but hear me out. As 2016 was a hard road for me with the loss of my mother and close friend. I now know life is way too short and you need to enjoy every day. To live life as play, explore your boundaries, travel to places you have never been, and give love to as many people as you can. Most of all smile.. even when life gets you down.

#549 With Love this Valentines...

One day out of 365 is dedicated to those so they can highlight their love, and that day is called "Valentine's Day".

I may have mentioned this before but this day is not celebrated as much in Australia like America. Some restaurants and florists do seem to have more bookings and flowers than usual, but unfortunately the men in Australia just see it as just another day. (Can i say typical? :)

Valentine's day is '24 hours' to make the most beloved person in your life understand how deeply your love runs. As Valentine's Day draws closer, we’re definitely feeling it in Second life at the moment. So many options for you which can be a daunting task. To choose that one or more gifts that completely personifies an indescribable love for that other person, that for me is a dilemma. Christmas is bad enough trying to think of what to buy, but for Valentine's Day there seems to be so many choices, and I seriously wouldn't know what to get that was different from other people.

Did you know though, according to Irish folklore, women are allowed to propose to men only on a leap year? Have to think is it a leap year at the moment? (joking).  The folklore goes, a man was expected to pay a penalty such as a gown or, in some traditions, 12 pairs of gloves, if he refused the proposal.

If you’re thinking of solidifying your commitment to that special man in your life, what better time to pop the question than the next leap year…2016!  With just over a week and a bit to go until that special day, why not sneak away and pop into one of our destinations below and have some fun choosing that wonderful item for that special Valentine's Day.

#546 The whites of the water are but hidden flowers..

When I was younger I used to say to my parents, look at those whites in the water.
My parents jokingly used to say, they aren’t whites but Seahorses jumping around for the Lady of the Sea who is dropping flowers into the ocean. Never questioning it, I also used to believe that the ocean was always blue and that one day I would meet the lady of the ocean.
Believe me after all these many years, no matter how many times I swim in the ocean; there is no lady of the sea but damn sharks instead!!

A common misconception that I had about the ocean being blue is believed by many of us, that the reason for the blueness was due to the reflections from the sky on its surface. This is not true.
The real reason the ocean is blue is because water, pure water, is blue. According to its frequency spectra, water is a very light shade of turquoise blue. You need a huge amount of it to really see its color. It’s like a teaspoon of oil, it looks transparent on a white spoon, but in the bottle looks yellowish.  If the ocean owed its color to the sky, it would be a different shade of blue and it would be white on cloudy days. You can see clouds reflected in the surface on the sea, but they don’t completely change its color.  Some constituents of sea water can influence the shade of blue you see in the ocean. This is why it can look greener or bluer in different areas.

However, the ‘lady of the sea keeps dropping those flowers’ into the ocean and those whites that you see, just means it is a rough current, and that it is getting or about to be windy!! J

#527 Text: - They have them in stock

Ugh, there are very few times when I let myself get frustrated by large corporations (I’ve resigned to the fact that they may just not put as much emphasis on certain things as smaller companies do -ie Customer Service) but stores frustrate me. To explain, I like to brouse around shops and to put it plainly if I see something that I like I take a pic of it with my phone which includes price as well.
I may take a few weeks to go get it but this is my frustration.

So, here’s the story.  I wanted to buy a blanket from this store.  Not just any blanket… a blanket that has a beautiful weave and seems to be one of a kind. So I took the photo and price and came back in a fortnight and they said they didn't have any left, ok that was my fault, however was told it was available online.  So, I log on to the website to check stock and hopefully, order online to have it shipped to my house.  Easy enough right?  Yay!  Found the blanket and now, I’ve added it to my cart.
Woot… Now, to check out and get my blanket shipped to me. But wait.  What’s that little icon with the cross through it. Ohhh, I can’t actually buy it online.  Darn. Stupid, why would the advice be correct...

So, I pick up the phone and call the store and get an operator.

Me:  “Hi, I’m sitting and looking at a product that I want but it’s at a location, in stock, and I live in (blank)  How can I get that product?”
Operator:  “You can’t”
Huh.  I can’t get a product that I clearly see on the website.  Even though that took me back a bit, I press on.
Me: “Oh.  Well, can I get it transferred between stores?”
Operator:  “No.”
Me:  “Umm… Okay, why does it allow you to add it to a shopping cart for online shopping?”
Operator:  “Well, some people make a list, print it out and bring it into the store.”
Me:  “No, they don’t really… Do they?”
Operator:  “I don’t know.  You can buy some products online but not all of them.”
Me:  “Where do the products come from?”
Operator:  “A central warehouse.”
Me:  “Okay, how can I get that central warehouse to send a blanket to me?”
Operator:  “They can’t.”
Me:  “Why?”
Operator:  “Because they don’t carry that item.”
Me:  “Okay, so why can’t I buy it online again?”
Operator:  “Because we don’t take credit cards over the phone or Internet.”
Me:  “But you just said some items can be purchased online and hence the reason the website says Buy Online, and it allows me to add to my cart.”
Operator:  “Only some items can be bought online.”

At this point, I’m confused.  Like… really, really confused.

Me to Operator: So to recap, even though the product says it is available, you won't transfer it from one store to another store, I can't purchase via credit card? I need to travel the distance to go get the blanket otherwise I miss out... Can you confirm that the blanket is available at this store.
Operator:  “No you will need to call the store direct.”

Thinks to myself it is my fault for not purchasing it earlier, but customer service is not as good as it used to be..do you think?

#526 Tomorrow is a new day

What does that mean? Tomorrow is a new Day?

Scarlet O’Hara says '"Tomorrow is a new Day"  this is a line, from her novel ‘Gone with the Wind.
While we never know how many days we have left, tomorrow is always going to be coming. This quote talks about tomorrow as a new opportunity, a new chance to start again.

Having created this picture for my blog, I needed to take a breather from SL and focus on my job, my family and my life. I apologize to my readers for my absence.

Sometimes we forget that our path is not, in my opinion, fixed or pre-ordained. Neither is our trajectory. Just because things didn’t go well today, doesn’t mean it will be that way forever. Even the best sports teams have losing streaks, even the best bloggers need a break sometimes. Each game is a new chance. Each day gives us a new opportunity to excel. Each day gives us a new chance to break whatever losing streak we may feel we have.
Each day brings with it new opportunities and new ways to utilize them to our advantage, and the advantage of others. All it takes is this realization, and the gloom-and-doom can be banished,

Your attitude will determine how you live tomorrow, should you be graced with one. What is your attitude, and what will it take to energize your feelings of hope? You just need to decide.. after all Tomorrow is a new day and a day to start fresh once again.

One person that I do know that sees tomorrow as a new day to be creative is that of Fancy Décor and Gizza Creations, which brings us to our destinations for today; -

#525 The person that has no imagination has no wings

Muhammad Ali  once said, “The man who has no imagination, has no wings.”

Imagination is the building block to help you visualize your dreams in life. If you have no imagination you probably don't know which direction to go in life. We are all just birds ready to fly in our own directions. If we have no imagination then our wings will always be clipped.
Imagine a world where we were suddenly stripped of imagination. Imagine what the future in such a world would be like. It would become stagnate; void of original thought from human beings. It doesn’t matter how such a tragedy would occur, that’s not the point. But that it occurred.

Of course, if humanity had never had imagination from the beginning, most likely, we would never develop, grow, or evolve, nor be able to think things through or solve problems. Nobody would have an original thought. Our minds would be totally handicapped. There would have been no art, no music, no literature, no sports, no talent, no creativity whatsoever, not much of anything. There would never have been any inventions, innovations, improvements, nor any changes whatsoever. But in this modern technological age, if our ability to imagine things and to be creative simply voided out in our minds, what would happen? For starters, there would be total stagnation. There would be no new thought processes, no new ideas, no further inventions or innovations or improvements, and there’d be no changes whatsoever. Perhaps we would lose interest in all our clever technologies and inventions of the modern age. Perhaps we would slip back into total barbarism and savagery once again.
We would forget how far we have come technology, and most likely everything technological would collapse, and so society would collapse. We would become a lethargic, careless, thoughtless people, barely surviving in a world where our minds have become stifled and limited. We wouldn’t be able to dwell on the past, to reminisce; nor would we be able to imagine the future, to dream for greater things to come. So if you can even imagine what life would be like without your imagination, that would be a very sad state and life would be terrible and bleak if it were true.

Thank God such a disaster has never occurred, and most likely never will. We should be thankful that we do have the ability to imagine, to be creative, to conjure up great ideas, and to invent and improve things, to think things through and solve problems.
We should never take that wonderful ability for granted.

One person that I do know that has an amazing amount of imagination is that of Neva Crystall and her new place called Saint-Pete City where this picture below was created. #521 Just one of those days..

Do you ever wake up some mornings and think today is just going to be one of those days!!
You stumble out of bed, you trip over the sheets or shoes on the floor, you spill coffee on your blouse, or even for me toothpaste ends up on my black work blouse, even worse.

You curse as it is Friday 13th and then understand why it is going to be one of those days.
You swear openly that it will get better, but as you get into the car, you forgot you were too lazy to get petrol the night before, and dammit have to now stop at the petrol station which mean't that you should have left a little earlier to head to work. You curse as you leave the petrol station as some fool took too long before you to fill up and that they slowwwwwly walk to the car, not a care in the world that you are going to be at least 5 mins late.

Ever single driver seems to be taking their time and of course some 80 year old is driving 40kms in a 60 zone. Sigh. I don't know about you but that seems to happen to me at least once a week.

Certain days, times and dates. You want it to be different, but that won't happen, you can tell what sort of a day you are going to have when all things go wrong. Not to mention you manager glaring at you that you are now ten minutes late cause some other fool decided to park in your favorite spot so you had to park further away and then there was no lift space and had to wait for the next lift.

You try and make it through the day but even the minutes are going so slow and you say why me. Why am I having this bad day.  The day ends and you think thank god, and it feels like the time is now going fast before you know it your alarm clock wakes you again and it is happening all over again.

I wonder how many other people feel like their life is going one minute ridiculously slow and then the next before you know it Christmas is only a few months away....

#516 Reflection on Aesthetic Artistry with Gizza Creations, Cinphul, Apple Fall and Tableau Vivant.

I am truly amazed at some of the awesome creations that have appeared over the past 6 years that I have been on Secondlife. Not that I get on everyday, I do make my appearance at least twice a week if not three times a week. I love to walk around some of the exciting new shops to peek in and of course purchase their latest décor items, and wonder how the heck they created that vase, that fireplace and all the intricate details such as Apple Fall's latest masterpiece.

One designer that I am sure you admire as well is that of GizzA Creations. I love her seamless inspirations and articles of clothing such as the one I am wearing now from Chapter Four called the Gizza Sport Jacket. Not to mention Cinphul who I have been recently asked to blog for them, and their imagination at play with their "Moon Curtains' available now at Cosmopolitan and Marketplace.

#498 I have the dreamers disease with GizzA Creations, Cinphul, and [sYs] Design.

I have heard the song, I understand the meaning, but why do I have the Dreamers Disease?
It is a disease that feels good, makes me relax and finds myself thinking of other solutions or different ways of re-inventing ideas. It is something I cannot heal. I have this disease because I choose not to face every challenge that comes my way and stoop into this moment of fantasy, this dream.
I consider myself as a dreamer, they say there is nothing wrong in dreaming. What I believe is wrong is not having a dream. If you don't have a dream you can't be creative, plan, and make good.

In order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline and effort. I say Dream!!, Dream as big as the sky, for what would the world be like if we did not have dreamers.!! Do you have the dreamer's disease?

Sitting back here dreaming of my next blog, I bring to you our destination for today: -

#494 No rules with GizzA Creations and [sYs] Design

At the end of the movie ‘Matrix’ Neo makes the statement” I’m going to show them a world without you. A world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible. Where we go from here is a choice I leave to you.”

When I watched that movie about 100 times (joking) it was a lot,  that is what is happening today. People are exploring a world without rules and controls, they are exploring their boundaries and borders to see if they are still there. People want to believe that anything is possible! We want to be free!

What would this world look like if we had all of these things removed, no rules, no controls, no borders, and no boundaries. Would that be a better place to live? Many would say yes! But what would it really be like?

If there were no rules then anyone could do anything they like regardless of you. If there were no controls then there would be chaos instead of freedom. If there were no borders then we would have no direction. If there were no boundaries then there would be no safety for you. This is what I believe would happen. The powerful would destroy the weak. The rich would take from the poor. The strongest would take what is yours for themselves! You would become insignificant. That is the reality of it all. It would be like the jungle where the strong survive and the weak are eaten! This is why we have rules.. and sometimes it is good to review and check that the rules are still valid.

For now though, one rule that cannot be broken for me is that I blog my favorite designer and that is GizzA Creations.  Wearing the beautiful blonde hair from Tableau Vivant called 'Last Train Home' and the gorgeous new outfit from GizzA Creations called 'Amy' and the backpack from sYS Design @ The Chapter Four event on now, I bring to you our destination for today: -

#486 Pinnacle of my life with GizzA Creations

What is the Pinnacle of your life, Do you know what it looks like, or how to get there?
Its good to get back to writing from the brief hiatus I had taken.. called 'My RL job!'
My real life has definitely taken a toll on me over the last couple of years and as it is Sunday I can tell you I am eagerly awaiting Monday to arrive to head back to that horrid place that pays the bills.. jokes.. NOT. I scratch my head and think why am I on this roller coaster ride, and when will it stop.

At one of my training/coaching sessions at work, we had a session called 'Pinnacle' which focused on personality development and building a clear vision of what one would want to achieve in life. A mere three day program can change one's personality and perspective towards life?! That intrigued me. The result truly amazed me though! Mocking my uncertainty.. it revealed a whole new realm of possibilities with the power of striving and accomplishing every single one! At the end of the session each and every person was to make a vision for themselves, along with the the exact time they would achieve it. All of us, bustling with energy and optimism rushed to chalk our ideas. Mine went something like this.. I'm penning this down as a post, so that it stands as a testament to what I must achieve and some I have so far.

So here it goes, My five year plan!

1. Finish my MBA - still waiting to finish
2. Get placed as a Manager in a reputed company. Reputed Company has it's draw backs - Yep
3. Meanwhile, get settled with the right one :) winner am doing this now.
4. In every step of this vision, see to that my parents are happy and proud of me.
5. Most importantly, grow as a person in all aspects of spirituality.
6. Write a book and get it published - next month I have some free time.. ok will that ever be?
7. Learn how to use Photoshop better and take some classes :) winner am doing this now!
and finally...
8. Live in a place that dosen't have a traffic report.. away in the country would be bliss (once they get internet there)!! :D

That's about it I guess, thanks to 'Pinnacle', a dream that seemed as an unlikely possibility.. now appears so vivid and distinguishable. Do you have a Pinnacle?

One vivid dream that an SL designer has created and that being GizzA Creations,  who has designed the beautiful Wendy Knotted Shirt and Denim Skirt.  The GizzA - Wendy Knotted shirts and Denim skirts comes in a vast array  of colours and patterns.  There are six colour shirts and 6 colour packs for your styling mix and moods.  So what are you waiting for, come take a walk to our destination for today: -

#479 Always time for a catnap with GizzA Creations and Zerkalo

Missing the sun's rays at the moment, I couldn't hesitate having a lay down on this awesome creation by Zerkalo for the Shiny Shabby Event. Wearing the beautiful outfit from GizzA Creations called the Gizza Madelyn Dress which comes in an assortment of colours such as Soil, Stone, Camel, Pink, Blue and Black (see pic below).

Resting back, covering my eyes with the beautiful hat from Baiastice, wearing the stone colour from Gizza, belly full after eating a few plums,  I closed my eyes only to hear the wind whispering and the gulls flying by.

I have been told that a short cat nap as I call it can refresh you without throwing off your sleep schedule. They say find a dimly lit place, or under a hat in my case, and take a short twenty minutes, any longer and you could slip into deeper stages of sleep and unfortunately waking up then you can be groggy and unable to sleep later.

Sometimes that is all you need to say good afternoon world I'm having a quick siesta and some me time.  Feeling the Vitamin B, C, and A seeping into my pours, this is the country life don't you think?

#476 Feel the Warmth with GizzA Creations, and Bauhaus Movement

There are many similarities between gardening and writing. You may not think so, but it all comes down to hard work and dedication to succeed.  To explain: we can find inspiration in each of them so we can get better at what we do. Now one thing is certain – both activities require a great amount of planning to pull off. If you happen to do both of them as part of your living, then you may notice how they can flow into each other as your life goes on.

Gardens are made with planning in mind, especially if you happen to be a person who likes the visual arts, but one thing you can agree upon is that writing a story or an article carries the same care and understanding it takes to have the patience to gently usher a new life from the soil and see it grow and bloom in the light of day. Much like lawn care requires trimming and hedging, weed control and careful gardening, writing requires information gathering, sifting through data, facts and rumors to forge the ideas from all of this into something coherent and easily relatable by all who read it.

Much like the tender beginnings of seedlings need patience, care and love, writing your own work requires the same approach. The scenes you create, the information you share over the course of time will help become the food for thought of the final form of your work, just like all seedlings need care to become majestic plants. Apart from the obvious you can also blog outside and gardening can also be done outside. To feel that warmth against your skin is exactly what I am after now.

To reach the destination at the end of the road, you will need to walk that road first.
