#555 The geese aren't too far away.. returning to Neva River...






When I go out with family or friends, they call me camera happy. I try to make as many photos as I can. I love the art of making photographs through capturing small snippets of the places and lives that I touch. I love that I can have a record of being with my friends and share those moments with them later, a group context that only we can share. The only thing I won’t do is take photos of myself, I am not a selfie junkie but quite the opposite, I love taking photos of everyone else, and I am proud to state I am a photographer.
 
Once upon a time, I started with a junky thing in an old flip- flop-phone, and from there was gifted a nice point-and-shoot. That lasted a few years, until I was again gifted an amazingly lovely entry-level DSLR, the Nikon D60.
 
That camera came with me everywhere, spare lenses included. Once, I was taking photos of everything I could, interesting and not. Having my camera with me was more than a possibility; it was expected, much to the chagrin of my shoulders and the curses from my friends to hurry up and to take that damn pic. J


I go for what I call photo-walks. I love capturing moments of couples glancing at each other in love, birds flickering on a branch, wildlife, and even though I hate crowds I love capturing a crowd moment and everyone busy in their lives. For several hours of the evening almost every day I’d be out, just consuming the city around me, finding little areas that people had made their own, finding places that interest me, intrigue me and most especially the mornings, when the mist is gathering on the fields and the heat is coming from the cows on their backs. Just adore!!


There are places that I return to for each season in Second life and one such place that I truly adore is that of Neva River. The magical way that Neva Zenga transforms her place of heaven for you.  Now housed up in the new area in Neva River Village, I walk around looking at different angles and enjoying the sounds of the serenity. One such sound that is coming soon is the approaching geese as they once again return to the beauty of spring at Neva River.

#520 The Forgotten Road at Neva River Sim




There are certain places in Secondlife that just amazes me with their creativity, style and passion and how some designers can make a place come alive. Once such place is that of "Neva River".

Neva River my permanent home now and the owner of the entire land being 'Neva Crystall' inspires me how fast she can change scenery from Summer to Fall, not to mention her quick talents at her décor. Neva's inventory must be perfect is all I can say.

Neva River has been around since I believe 2011, and in that time I have seen the land change from country atmosphere to almost forest like inspiration and gorgeous roaming valleys with cute little cottages and a river that meets the sea.

Neva River is not expensive to rent and definitely worth a look if you are wanting to rent some land within second life and a plus to have a talented person design the inside of the house for you.


Neva River Rentals Information
Basic parcel (600 prims): L$2500 per week
Premium parcel (1000 prims): L$3750 per week

To maintain the gorgeous atmosphere and surroundings, there is no altering/replacing any of the exterior decorations around the house without contacting Neva i.e.: (tress, bushes, ground textures, etc.).  It is possible to change the current building for your parcel however you need to contact Neva first to ensure it wouldn’t interfere with the sim style. 1000 + prims are available for your interior/exterior deco.  This allows Neva to make sure that overall look and style of the community stays the same. Interior deco however can be decorated according to your own taste.

#486 Pinnacle of my life with GizzA Creations


What is the Pinnacle of your life, Do you know what it looks like, or how to get there?
Its good to get back to writing from the brief hiatus I had taken.. called 'My RL job!' 
My real life has definitely taken a toll on me over the last couple of years and as it is Sunday I can tell you I am eagerly awaiting Monday to arrive to head back to that horrid place that pays the bills.. jokes.. NOT. I scratch my head and think why am I on this roller coaster ride, and when will it stop. 

At one of my training/coaching sessions at work, we had a session called 'Pinnacle' which focused on personality development and building a clear vision of what one would want to achieve in life. A mere three day program can change one's personality and perspective towards life?! That intrigued me. The result truly amazed me though! Mocking my uncertainty.. it revealed a whole new realm of possibilities with the power of striving and accomplishing every single one! At the end of the session each and every person was to make a vision for themselves, along with the the exact time they would achieve it. All of us, bustling with energy and optimism rushed to chalk our ideas. Mine went something like this.. I'm penning this down as a post, so that it stands as a testament to what I must achieve and some I have so far.

So here it goes, My five year plan!

1. Finish my MBA - still waiting to finish
2. Get placed as a Manager in a reputed company. Reputed Company has it's draw backs - Yep
3. Meanwhile, get settled with the right one :) winner am doing this now.
4. In every step of this vision, see to that my parents are happy and proud of me.
5. Most importantly, grow as a person in all aspects of spirituality.
6. Write a book and get it published - next month I have some free time.. ok will that ever be?
7. Learn how to use Photoshop better and take some classes :) winner am doing this now!
and finally...
8. Live in a place that dosen't have a traffic report.. away in the country would be bliss (once they get internet there)!! :D

That's about it I guess, thanks to 'Pinnacle', a dream that seemed as an unlikely possibility.. now appears so vivid and distinguishable. Do you have a Pinnacle?

#458 There is a change coming with Eyelure and Junk

When you think about the future, are you filled with hope or worry? If you are like most people, it’s probably anxiety. You have largely been experiencing worry. Your mind feels unsettled. Worry arises because you realize that you cannot predict what is going to happen tomorrow and know that you cannot have full control over how events turn out. You are uncomfortable with not having absolute certainty.
Some people do this when the word 'Change' is mentioned to them. Change can occur at home, in the workplace, Change in Secondlife perhaps? Look at what happened when we were told that there was going to be a change in the way we use Secondlife. Everyone went into a panic.
It is important to recognize that uncertainty is a natural part of life. You cannot know with absolute certainty what is going to happen next. When you release your attachment to control, it’s easier to breathe. Some people deal with anxiety by drinking, overeating, and turning to other bad habits. However, none of these are real solutions for worrying. The best approach is to learn how to deal with your anxiety in healthy ways. Suggestions are follows: - 

1. Work it off.

Although exercise may not actually solve the issues that are causing you to feel anxious, engaging yourself in activity takes your mind off things.  You become clearer after taking a break.

2. Address your fears.

Instead of suppressing your anxiety, it is important to face your fears head on. Ask yourself what is truly causing your anxiety. Is it a real worry?or just because you have no control. You should only worry what you can control, and just go with the flow and see what happens. You could be pleasantly suprised.

3. Meditate.

Meditation helps your mind with needed breaks from all that clutter.  The practice also helps you with greater focus.  You find yourself experiencing increased clarity and less likely to worry over unnecessary things.

4. Stay hydrated.

Did you know that dehydration has been linked to depression? Just about every person has heard that it is important to drink enough water, but most people do not realize that their mental health actually improves when they are hydrated.

5. Change your perspective.

Energy flows where you focus your attention. Understand that you can choose to focus on positive rather than negative thoughts.  In fact, as you become more positive, you’ll be better able to create more positive outcomes. Be around positive people will help you have a clearer mind.

6. Relax.

It’s hard not to feel bombarded living in modern times. You probably spend your days in a constant state of flux. Your heart beats a lot faster as a result. So set aside time to relax. You’ll find that your feelings of anxiety subside.
No matter what if you can't cope with change it is always best to talk to someone. This helps you to understand why it is causing you to worry.

#406 Shiny Shabby Event - New Destination



 Shiny Shabby is coming to a place near you. Just a hop, skip, fly or teleport will open it's new doors to you on the 20th February, 2015. The much anticipated event will be at a new site, not far from the original site.

The many and various designers include: Diva, Cheeky Pea, Bauhaus Movement, Glam Affair, Entwined, Culprit, Apple Fall just to name a few.
So pencil that date in your calendar, the much anticipated monthly event will opens it's doors in not too many hearbeats to come.

#375 Imagine if there was no Creativity with Purple Moon


I myself follow the work of many talented and inspirational photographers within Secondlife and sometimes wonder “what are my readers life like?”  Some share their photos, Some don't. Some have pseudonyms, and others are men dressed as women or vica versa. It dosent matter to me who you all are, as long as you are happy. Happy in doing what you like, and that you enjoy your SL and your real life. I would hate to hear that a person's RL is so bad that they escape into SL to get away. I feel sorry that I cant help you so you can also be happy in both worlds.  I do wonder what my readers life is like and what drives them to be the artists that they are? I thought it would be nice for you to know a little more about lil 'ol me! So here you go 10 more things to share with you…

#368 Whispers of Autumn with the hint of salt in the air with Penumbra Fashion Week and Dead Dollz


PENUMBRA. Autumn/Winter Fashion Week (AW14), kicked off with a bang today, shining the spotlight on a week of fast paced fashion events.  Penumbra is scheduled for a whole week from the 13th – 22nd of September. PENUMBRA. Autumn/Winter Fashion Week is ready to highlight the best of the industry’s designers and showcase what makes Second Life one of the most exciting and dynamic places on Earth is its creativity!

Wearing one of the beautiful new designs available right now from PENUMBRA Autumn/Winter Fashion Week 2014, called the "Tortuga from Dead Dollz".

I bathe in the gentle breeze of autumn enjoying some sunset bliss on the lake at Neva River, another favorite destination of mine.  It is a beautiful time of the day to just be, breath in the salt air, watch the blue sky turn yellow, orange and pink and bask in the ambiance as the last of the warming sunlight reflects off the land. When all else in life feels hectic, erratic and slightly frenzied, I can count on a walk along my favorite path just to re-energise and re-balance my spirit.

#351 As the Sun goes behind the cloud time to call for dinner with Cheeky Pea, Apple Fall and Culprit


Some of the top bloggers in SL seem to photograph an exterior or interior scene with amazing talent. I have found, that you have to love to design. Like a blank page or canvas, an empty room can be either an opportunity or a challenge. With so many ways to fill it, how do you know where to start? Some basic rules apply for furniture arrangement which helps you figure out where to put things. In saying that, SL has no boundaries. These guidelines wont turn you into an interior or exterior designer overnight, but they will steer you in the right direction and help you achieve some good results. Finding some amazing pieces from Cheeky Pea from Uber, and some items from Apple Fall and Culprit. These are but a few amazing artists that are available in SL.

1. Consider how the room - area is used and how many people will use it? What scene are you trying to create? That will dictate the type of furnishings you'll need and the amount of seating required.
2. Identify the room’s focal point — a fireplace, view, television etc.— and orient the furniture accordingly.
3. Place the largest pieces of furniture first, such as the sofa  or the bed.  In most cases this piece should face the room’s focal point.
4. Symmetrical arrangements work best for formal rooms. Asymmetrical arrangements make a room feel more casual.
5. Vary the size of furniture pieces throughout the room, so your eyes move up and down as you scan the space. Balance a large or tall item by placing another piece of similar height across the room from it (or use art to replicate the scale). Avoid putting two tall pieces next to each other.

#258 Chance of Cloudy Meatballs with Zanze


Forecast for Christmas Day, Humid and Clouds with change of storm. Perfect Christmas Morning don' t you think? Now what to do when the meal was going to be spent on a balcony overlooking the water, or should I say rain. So exit Stage 1, now for Stage 2, everyone inside.

Thinking house packed, children screaming, and adults gaming, some snoring after eating and kids voices raised, with me cleaning up having to watch for breakages. I wouldn't have Christmas any other way..:).. thinking trip somewhere next year..

Well food is now prepared, house cleaned, going through checklists, -  Roast done, Pork Cooked, Ham Glazed ready, Pudding cooking (gave up on the tin), dining table set, Christmas Tree lights on, and time to go for a walk and have some sanity before I collapse from exhaustion. Thinking as the children get ready for bed, it is Christmas in less than 12 hrs, so better go inside before I hear the faint bells of Santa's sleigh.
