#612 and the morning says hello world, it's time to get ready for work..

So what is your morning ritual before going to work?

Do you roll out of the bed, or so called drag yourself out of bed, do you hit the alarm three times before finally giving up you have to get up now or you’ll be late.

Do you rush for that coffee pot only to find out you slept in too much and now have to run for the bus and can’t get your morning fix. Do you find yourself sometimes missing your morning ritual shower only because you now are running more than an hr late and you know the boss will be there before you.

Sadly I get up at 5.30am each morning. of late finding my cat on my stomach, her nails in my tummy, the coffee smell from the kitchen percolating – (burnt now) from a timer, and after dragging myself out of bed, notice the bags under my eyes wishing I went to bed earlier.

My morning when not rushing, I wake up slowly by checking my emails on my ipad, check the posts I missed overnight. The cat is not on my stomach and she is purring waiting to be let out.  Once my coffee is brewing, I shower and get ready for work. I drink my coffee, and sometimes make breakfast. I’m a fan of either cereal, or toast.  I tidy up the kitchen and head to my office. I like to keep my morning simple – it’s the best way to start a busy day.
That’s if I don’t have a panic attack and have overslept. So what is your morning ritual?

#608 I'm okay, I'm alright, Though you have gone from my life. You said that it would, Now everything is going to be all right...

I have learn’t over this past month with the loss of my mother, that the phrase “moving on” is common in the grief and loss world, but it isn’t very well understood or, frankly, all that helpful.
What does it mean? What does moving on look like? Why do people not understand that a month doesn’t seem long. How long should you grieve?  Unfortunately, there isn’t a clear answer to those questions. It all takes time is my answer.

However, I have learn't that “moving on” after the death of a loved one, or other painful life event is: -
1. You Are Not Responsible for How Others Feel about Your Grief Process
Typically, it feels like what those around us mean by “moving on” is for us to stop hurting, stop talking about it, stop remembering, stop crying, and just stop grieving. They talk about wishing we would stop dwelling on the hurt and encourage us to just let go and accept what happened. Again it takes time.

2. Moving On Doesn’t Mean Forgetting
I suspect that the primary difficulty many of us have with the phrase “moving on” is that it often feels as if we’re being told to forget our loved one or the relationship we once had. That’s not what moving on means. Moving on is more about learning to live what I call a both/and life rather than an either/or life. It’s not about grieving or forgetting, happy or sad, black or white. It’s shades of gray.

3. Embrace their life with you - Remember them
It’s about learning to live a full and happy life even as you miss and long for what you have lost. It’s about remembering and honouring the one you loved while also embracing the beauty and fullness of the life you still get to live. It’s about the brilliance of your love and the shadow of your loss coexisting in this complex and expansive experience we call living.  There are no timelines or rules to the grieving process. You will move through it at your unique pace and not one minute faster. Only you can know when you are ready to move forward after your loss.

Only you can decide what it means to let go or accept the loss you experienced. Only you can truly decide what it means to move on and move forward. Remember your loved one, remember the fun, smile, cry and laugh and each day will get better for you.

You were the shadow to my light,

#602 I know I'm stronger and I'm capable, I know it's all in my head...

Nothing prepares you for losing a loved one. The emotional enormity of the experience  give survivors little frame of reference to draw from, even so much as watching someone die. How does one cope?
"The time of life we call dying is an extremely difficult part of the life cycle, but a normal part," so says palliative-care doctors "The nature of it isn't medical, it's experiential." What about the emotion side of it all doc?
When my mother was passing it is hard to put into words but I knew even a few days before. Her body was curling up, her skin was pasty, and it was only a matter of hours from the time that I saw her to when she past. She didn't look like my mother anymore. They say the death experience unfolds differently in each situation. But those who have witnessed "the passing" have huge thoughts and the emotions. I believe I covered them all from disbelief, doubt, anger, saddness and honestly just wanted to be left alone.
A few days before her passing, My mom had a dry mouth, her mouth was open and scary raspy breath that worsened over a few days. But she didn't die until the day the doctor called me and said we can’t tell if she is in pain so we will need permission to give her morphine, that was the night before. I felt responsible, wondering if this had rushed things." I will never know... The call came at 5.45 am the next day and Mum had left this world peacefully in her sleep.
I woke up feeling a little lighter but had a weird gut feeling that my concern and worries were now free. The enormity of the loss just overwhelmed me, I had no idea how I was going to feel and thought I was strong and prepared months before when she was deteriorating. Weeks later, whilst the hurt is dissipating, the confusion of now being alone terrifies me.
I love my family and you think you are strong, only to realise the little girl is crying inside wanting to be with her mother once again. How does one cope. My mother died at the age of 86 years old, she was my friend, my heart and soul. My mother had a good life, and she fulfilled her full life journey. So why do I feel like I missed out on so much...They say you will be ok, they say you are strong and you will cope in time, my heart feels like a chunk is missing from it and I know I will never be the same again. Why is it you wish you could turn back time so many times.

#601 There is a change in the weather Sam..

Do you regularly visit your favourite weather web site, or check the forecast every morning on your cell phone? Or do you just not have a care in the world and make plans for the day to spend by the beach unaware that a storm approaches until it is too late but everyone seemed to know about it but you. Well this is me. I always seem to make a mercy dash from the beach to the car as the rain drops hit me on the face and think damn why didn't I check the weather forecast.
Some people really obsess about the weather. In the United States, I have heard that there is an entire television channel dedicated to it, and I have friends who pay more attention to the weather than the news. I can understand in some parts of America where tornadoes occur often and yes If i lived there I too would watch the weather forecasts more often.
I always wonder how truly trustworthy the weather predictions are? Many people count on these long-range forecasts to accurately predict future weather, but are they really reliable, or are they more like the meteorological equivalent of gazing into a magic crystal ball?
For now though, 'Sam' and I have to quickly grab our gear before the heavens decide to bucket down upon us.
