#602 I know I'm stronger and I'm capable, I know it's all in my head...

Nothing prepares you for losing a loved one. The emotional enormity of the experience  give survivors little frame of reference to draw from, even so much as watching someone die. How does one cope?
"The time of life we call dying is an extremely difficult part of the life cycle, but a normal part," so says palliative-care doctors "The nature of it isn't medical, it's experiential." What about the emotion side of it all doc?
When my mother was passing it is hard to put into words but I knew even a few days before. Her body was curling up, her skin was pasty, and it was only a matter of hours from the time that I saw her to when she past. She didn't look like my mother anymore. They say the death experience unfolds differently in each situation. But those who have witnessed "the passing" have huge thoughts and the emotions. I believe I covered them all from disbelief, doubt, anger, saddness and honestly just wanted to be left alone.
A few days before her passing, My mom had a dry mouth, her mouth was open and scary raspy breath that worsened over a few days. But she didn't die until the day the doctor called me and said we can’t tell if she is in pain so we will need permission to give her morphine, that was the night before. I felt responsible, wondering if this had rushed things." I will never know... The call came at 5.45 am the next day and Mum had left this world peacefully in her sleep.
I woke up feeling a little lighter but had a weird gut feeling that my concern and worries were now free. The enormity of the loss just overwhelmed me, I had no idea how I was going to feel and thought I was strong and prepared months before when she was deteriorating. Weeks later, whilst the hurt is dissipating, the confusion of now being alone terrifies me.
I love my family and you think you are strong, only to realise the little girl is crying inside wanting to be with her mother once again. How does one cope. My mother died at the age of 86 years old, she was my friend, my heart and soul. My mother had a good life, and she fulfilled her full life journey. So why do I feel like I missed out on so much...They say you will be ok, they say you are strong and you will cope in time, my heart feels like a chunk is missing from it and I know I will never be the same again. Why is it you wish you could turn back time so many times.

#562 Dusk Blue...Coming your way soon

According to the fashion experts, this spring for you guys, will be a bit of an anomaly. Usually, the hot colors for men and women are similar in tone. Sure, the top choice color in menswear and ladies’ attire may vary, but generally the two fashion lines are on the same page of the pantone book.
Fashion gurus are simultaneously stumped and excited about how different the men’s color palette is from the ladies’ this spring. While the color that tops the charts for the women is a bright and bold Marsala red, (hmm, not sure if I am a fan of red), the color topping the must-have list for men is quite the opposite.  It is called 'Dusk Blue'.

Eyebrows raised, I now have a picture of a blurry brown and bluish color. So how do I describe dusk blue? I’d say it’s what you get when you combine navy with some mid tone of gray. It’s not as bright as a true sky blue, although it sure does mimic the shade of the winter, like a dull greyish blue. Like the sky in some of my US and UK friends places at the moment?
Dusk Blue is not too bright or too dull.  Just a happy medium between vibrant and muted that gives it a bold confidence without screaming “look at me!”

As digital editors we can’t turn water into wine and we can’t turn copper into gold, if we could we probably wouldn’t be photo shopping pictures we would be sipping rums on a beach in Hawaii ! So we’re not traditional alchemists….But using a little bit of magic and some Adobe Photoshop, well mainly Photoshop and a lot of coffee, I am sure that we will be seeing a lot more dusk blue on our male folk this spring, and hopefully some designers will create it for women as well, as I know myself I will wear Dusk Blue,  but will pass on the marsala red.
Below is a snapshot of the color palette for Dusk blue ...coming your way soon in Second life.

#531 It takes darkness to be aware of the light

We all encounter darkness in our lives….it doesn’t matter when and how. It is probably an essential part of our existence because our “Journey”, if we have a journey, is all about moving through the Darkness into Light. So in that respect, I believe Darkness deserves to be written about and explored a little more. There are many textbook definitions about darkness like the most “googled” one is “Darkness, in contrast with brightness, is a relative absence of visible light”.  It is the appearance of black in a color space.”

Well no matter how we perceive darkness it, whether as an all-consuming force, a recurring heartache, a blanket of complete desolation or the mere absence of light…we know that Darkness exists and in a way it is only in Darkness that we can truly appreciate the Light…isn’t it???

In this post, I use darkness as a metaphor, the darkness that dwells in all of us at some time……Darkness can be Anger, Insecurity, Jealousy, Resentment, Hatred, Self-Criticism, Self-Loathing, and most importantly Fear. To me Fear is the absolute darkness because it truly can paralyze us into believing things about ourselves that are so debilitating that it takes quite a while to get ourselves out of it. Now the reason I was so keen to write about Darkness is because I wanted to share what an important part of our journey it is because it is only when we are aware of the Darkness, can we move towards the Light.

I am sure that it is a known fact that the longer we have lived with any of the above mentioned emotions, the harder it is to get rid of it; however there is this one more critical aspect…..It takes a lot of love, guidance and gentleness to bring people out of their self-imposed judgements and opinions to help them see the light, to help them see how liberating it is to finally let go of the baggage that they have been carrying with them for so long. It indeed can be more exhausting and challenging than climbing the steepest mountain peaks. So if you talk to someone that is full of “Darkness”, try and help them see the light.
