#710 There is something magical in seeing what texture and tone and colour you can produce merely with a scroll of a mouse..


A lot of what we see in the media is extremely Photoshopped! Everything from wrinkles, to hair, to curves, it's all "perfected" by Photoshop software. It is no wonder so many girls and women suffer from body dissatisfaction. The images of women represented in the media are so far from life like, it's not even funny. As an amateur photographer in RL, I love using Photoshop to alter lighting and remove the odd pimple or two from pictures but I believe that changing images entirely is wrong.  

Photographers need to find the beauty in all of their subjects and the media/advertising world needs to stop manipulating those images!I 

Whilst I am not saying that SL doesn't come with its unrealistic images of women, I love using photoshop to create and explore and to hopefully bring a pic to life and above all I just love to share my life stories, and most of all I just love to blog.

#685 "Let me just stop fighting..I'm not that strong"..


I was raised an optimist. Believe in people, hard work pays off, things will get better…As a slightly nerdy and completely gawky teen, life sucked. classmate cruelty was an unavoidable part of life. 
Those years were painful. It was mind-boggling how mean, how pessimistic, people could be... 
My mother, a textbook optimist, trotted out the usual lines: 
“It’s not you; it’s them.” 
“They’re just jealous.”
“It’ll get better. Just wait.”..
I hid behind alcohol and drugs to numb the pain of feeling... I'm not that strong after-all..
I wanted it to all go away..
Right then, right there, I had a choice to make: Let life lead me, or lead my life.
Reread that last line…
That’s the reason we need to work our tails off to be, and to raise, optimists:
If my parents had been pessimists and expected the worst, I wouldn’t be here today. If my parents had been pessimists, they would have given up on me; in turn, I would have given up on myself. As optimists, they had faith that I would learn, grow, and recover.
I wanted her to be a fighter, to always look for the best in others, to fall down and get back up again—and again, and again.
It’s a struggle to stay positive, and pessimism desperately wants to be BFFs. My negative alter-ego is always sitting on my shoulder, whispering in my ear, “Isn’t life unfair?”
The thing is, life can seem unfair. But.. life got so much easier, and happier, when I learned how to overcome negative thoughts.
Gently, but firmly, tell your partner/mother/best friend/colleague that you can’t participate in their pity party. You know the ones that are always complaining about something in their life. Empathy and compassion are important, but learn how to deal with difficult people... They are bringing you down. Definitely help them, but help them in a positive way. Living bitter-free is a skill... and a hard skill to learn.
Acknowledge and explore feelings of negativity, but don’t dwell on them. 
Turn them around, and set them free...They will thank you one day.

#684 "I'm more than just a picture"..


We are very visual creatures. A large percentage of the human brain dedicates itself to visual processing. If we think about our love of social media, how we ‘like, share, and listen-watch funny grabs – cartoons and stories. We do this because of our love of images. Images are able to grab our attention easily, we are immediately drawn to them. Think about this blog, for example: did you look at the words first, or the image?
We process images at an alarming speed. When we see a picture, we analyse it within a very short snippet of time, knowing the meaning and scenario within it immediately. The human brain is able to recognise a familiar object within 100 milliseconds. People tend to recognise familiar faces within 380 milliseconds, which is pretty impressive.
It’s not news that we love to talk about ourselves. We devote about 30–40% of all speech to talking about others or ourselves. But online that number jumps to about 80% of social media posts. Why? Talking face-to-face is messy and emotionally involved–we don’t have time to think about what to say, we have to read facial cues and body language.

The one thing we have to remember with social media, is that we are a person behind the story, the face and this is the same in Secondlife. We talk about ourselves on Social Media, but when have you lately said hello to the people that you follow, the friends on your SL list, the people that watch your every moves on Facebook.. ? ...Remember, they can swear, can joke,  say what's on their mind, They drink,..They could be a daughter, or a sister, 
Sometimes it's hard for them to show, 

 Remember, they are more than just a pretty face...

#681 I'm more than just a picture..


As Hailee Seinfeld says. I can swear, I can joke, I say what's on my mind, If I drink, I keep up with the guys. You see me holding up my middle finger to the world. I don't wear ribbons and pearls.  I'm a daughter and a sister, Sometimes it's hard for me to show, There's more to me than people know.  I'm a dreamer, but "I'm not just a pretty girl"..  

I am different in that I appreciate what life has to give me.. Every day, I look for the beauty in life, and yes everday. I smell the breakfast smells coming from our neighbour, I smell the freshly cut grass or the rain that is approaching. I notice life around me everyday.

For example - Have you ever looked up in the sky to see a “V" soaring above your head? No, not a flying alphabet — a flock of birds in formation! Do you just watch them fly by and wonder.. (where are they going, look how many there are...)

These birds are called “migratory birds." The reasons birds migrate vary but typically involve availability of food or weather. In the northern hemisphere, many birds migrate south during the winter months when the weather becomes too cold for them to survive in their northern habitats. Once spring arrives, the birds return to their homes. 
Equally as varied as the reasons for migrating are the ways in which different migratory birds make their journey. Some birds migrate alone, others travel in pairs, and many move in large flocks. 

Song birds often migrate in swarms, while larger birds, such as geese, migrate in formation. Many times this migration takes the form of the letter V. The reason these birds prefer to fly in a V shape has puzzled even scientists for many years. There are two general theories to explain the V-shaped movement. The most accepted theory is that the formation of a flock influences aerodynamics, making it easier for the birds to fly. As the birds flap their wings, the air flowing off their wing tips gives birds in the back of the V an extra lift. This reduces the amount of energy the birds need to fly.. These are the moments in my life i cherish the most.. cause I'm not just a pretty girl..".
