#627 Shrouded in the Morning Mist...


It’s fair to say that I am not a morning person. In fact getting out of bed is my least favourite part of the day. After that everything gets better. I always wake up slowly and If I haven't got my coffee percolating by the time the eyes open I can't function and get cranky amongst anyone that is around.
I went into the country last week and took my trusty camera with me and awoke to the sounds of kookaburras calling into the mist and snapped some beautiful pics while having a wander. I can see why morning people like to get up early. It really is beautiful in the freshness of the morning, with the mist floating over the ground, and the crispness of the air always looks gorgeous in the early morning light. If only bed wasn’t so comfy and warm…

#614 We're all so bored, We are all tired of everything...





I was going through my blog posts and checking them off against my Flickr posts and holy “bleep”, I realised I forgot to blog a post. Major sin in blogging, How could I miss that, why did I not see this before>
 OK Ok, I am only human but yikes…!!!! Ok I have calmed down a little now, but time to get cracking and post this before I get literally shot. Joking :)


I wrote about a few blogs before that we seem to be creating a culture of distraction. Just of late my nephew came over and stayed the night, (free food) as he calls it, but all he wanted me to do was to walk with him on the mile hike so he could catch some of the pokeman balls. Seriously? So off we went on a huge walk, where he then said can we drive around a bit so I can get some more lives? I honestly don’t know what he was saving, but an hr and a half later, Yes I drove that far for him, he was pleased he had collected some saves and well for me I was down ½ a tank of petrol. Yikes.


It seems we are creating and encouraging a culture of distraction where we are increasingly disconnected from the people and events around us and increasingly unable to engage in long-form thinking. Bear with me. People now feel anxious when their brains are unstimulated. Don’t get me wrong I love my nephew and it was sort of quality time but then again, we are losing some very important things by doing this. We threaten the key ingredients behind creativity and insight by filling up all our “gap” time with stimulation. We inhibit real human connection when we prioritize our phones over our the people right in front of us.  What can we do about it? Is this path inevitable or can balance be restored? How can we not be so bored?


I want to ask people a simple question: are you happy with your relationship with your phone. Do you think it’s a healthy one? I don’t think I have a healthy relationship with mine. I feel a constant need to pull it out – to check email, to text, to see if there is something interesting happening RIGHT NOW. It’s constantly pulling on my attention. Do you do this? I do. If I let it, it easily fills up those gaps in my day—some gaps of boredom, some of solitude. Look at how internet access has changed since smart phones came into being (and this data is a year old, so I’m certain it’s even more in this direction). In the pre-smartphone era we accessed the internet roughly five times per day, in longer chunks. Today, with smartphones, we’re accessing it like 30 times a day – aka Pokemon games. Before that was angry birds…


The effect of all of this is that we’re increasingly distracted. Less and less able to pay attention to anything for what used to be reasonable length of times. The funny part about distraction is that it’s a worsening condition. The more distracted we are, the more likely we are to get distracted.


Some people call switching our attention between things that vie for it “multi-tasking”. Like were a computer with dual cores running two simultaneous processes. So why can’t we look away? Is there a comparison to slot machines? Is the phone that addictive?.

#592 For there is nothing lost that may be found if sought...




We have all heard this story in one fashion or another.  For you guys you can tune out if you wish this time. In the beginning, she falls in love with someone who seems to be the end-all. He sweeps her off of her feet; he turns her world upside down and seems like the perfect man. He nearly is, but not quite. He breaks her heart, shatters it into a million pieces. She is overcome with distraught; she can barely breathe when she thinks of all that she gave and all he gave back. She then thinks her life will never go on, how can she live any longer and drowns in her sorrow.


Just when you think that she cannot cope, she gasps for air, breaths again, and the heart begins to heal. Her life goes on.  I think we have all experienced this in some type of version first hand and truly believe that time itself heals all wounds. You just have to have faith and a little hope.

Towards the end of these mushy love stories, the real prince charming comes along her path and they live happily ever after.  The person may not necessarily be someone who she would have pictured herself with earlier but they make her feel special and loved, he makes her feel so special and takes care of her and loves her completely. It's just perfect. Okay okay, cheezy, I know.


As it is written – “For there is nothing lost that may be found if sought”. Lost being the one that left and found is the new person that comes along and lifts you off your feet.  Love is a crazy thing, you never know what the future holds. Reading stories like this can give you hope that yes, even though they are fiction, true love can exist. It is real and it is possible to find, it can be just around the corner.. (found if sought).

#541 Bric a Brac and all things shabby







Don’t hate me!! Real life has kept me exceptionally busy and I thank you for staying on as a reader in Second life Destinations R Us. Now I am back I want to talk to you about interior designs. One that I truly adore is that of the shabby chic style. Shabby Chic interior design is aged furniture. It could be chosen for its appearance of age with all these signs of wear and tear or it can be distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique.
I just adore personally the shabby chic style and can’t seem to get enough of it. Most especially French farmhouses. I find the combination of these styles to be calm, relaxing and welcoming. They make a house feel like a home as soon as you take a step towards the front door. I most definitely should have been born in the UK, not Australia, apart from hating the heat here in Australia, give me the shabby style and the cold and I am one happy woman.


My home is a happy combination of old, new and homemade, polished floors, timber, browns, whites and blacks.  I have a good amount of new furnishings and décor from my favorite stores such as, Zerkalo, Bauwerk, 22769, and many others.
Everything I own tells a story, and has history.. and I love that about my home in Second life.


On the quiet, my real life home is exactly the same – the style of shabby chic.

#513 Halloween is a time for magic doors and mystic lands


Of being invited to be a blogger for Shiny Shabby, you have no idea how thrilled and overjoyed I was to be apart of this event that I thought I would never be good enough to blog for. I believe that Skippy my friend would have heard me yell with delight that I had been chosen. #448 Meet 'Cathy Avril' with GizzA Creations, Glam Affair, Zerkalo, Mina, Reverie, and Bauwerk






























Shabby opened it's doors to you all only a few days ago. I have so much blogging to do for this event. One particular designer that I truly adore is that of GizzA Creations by Giz Seon. GizzA Creations has created the perfectly named "Cathy" Blazer Dress. Cathy comes in many beautiful colours that truly take your breath away.  With a little mixing and matching from the Shiny Shabby Event, I also bring to you "Avril". The Avril applier from Glam Affair works with any of the six mesh head models available in store. I am wearing 'Avril' today with Letlutka's Ever.  Avril comes with some gorgeous eyebrow colours, lipsticks and eyeshadow as per below. It couldn't be more perfect and easy to use. <3



Adoring with this lovely outfit, again I have mixed with one of the new hairs from Shiny Shabby from 'Mina', called Myrtle and the gorgeous vintage bag from Reverie, with some backdrops from Zerkalo, and a little terracotta from 22769 and Bauwerk. Hold me up!! So many amazing events on at present, that for the blogger like myself it is finding time to get around to visit them all before the month end.


One fantastic event on at present is that of The Season Story. One designer that I truly adore, that being Sari Sari, has released these amazing gacha items called "Mrs Bumpkin's Garden". I couldn't resist getting them all and finding some unique way to showcase them for you.
