#710 There is something magical in seeing what texture and tone and colour you can produce merely with a scroll of a mouse..


A lot of what we see in the media is extremely Photoshopped! Everything from wrinkles, to hair, to curves, it's all "perfected" by Photoshop software. It is no wonder so many girls and women suffer from body dissatisfaction. The images of women represented in the media are so far from life like, it's not even funny. As an amateur photographer in RL, I love using Photoshop to alter lighting and remove the odd pimple or two from pictures but I believe that changing images entirely is wrong.  

Photographers need to find the beauty in all of their subjects and the media/advertising world needs to stop manipulating those images!I 

Whilst I am not saying that SL doesn't come with its unrealistic images of women, I love using photoshop to create and explore and to hopefully bring a pic to life and above all I just love to share my life stories, and most of all I just love to blog.

#704 I remember the good ole days...


Recently I was contacted by some old friends that I had not seen or heard from in about 15 years. Oh the power of facebook! As we talked, I began to realize that they might be victims of what I refer to as Glory Day Syndrome, which is basically a nostalgic longing for the so called " Good ole Days".

We all started to speak of the good ole days and it brought back a flood of memories:-

·        I remember growing up in a yard filled with fruit trees, you name it (mulberries galore) which was an adventure in itself. If you could not climb a tree then you were at the mercy of the people who could, and I am happy to say I was an expert climber.
·        I remember being a real tomboy, flying kites, playing marbles and cricket. Racing the boys to the beach and yelling out “slow coaches”. Those were the good old days. I loved them.

Hopefully, we all have fond memories associated with different times of our lives, times that stood out as special. We think of those times with great fondness and we enjoy reflecting on them.

As long as we can continue to look forward to tomorrow with a positive sense of eager anticipation then we are fine. Our good old days are just the really memorable parts of our living experience, but we also need to focus on creating memorable moments now.

#701 Home is not a place but a feeling..


Picking out a new house can be exciting and terrifying at the same time, especially when you also might be choosing a new location to live. So how do you choose? What if the house has problems you can't afford to fix? What’s the tiebreaker if you love two places equally?
The first and only way to begin the decision-making process is to grab your calculator. A dream home becomes a nightmare the moment you can't afford it. “As you calculate, look beyond the listing price,” Look at what the repayments will be when and if the interest rates go up say (3x, 4x even). Can you afford it..
When looking for a place to live, you need to as my mother used to say, take off those rose coloured glasses. Look at the heating, cooling of the house, for eg: A house with vaulted ceiling costs more to heat than one with a low ceiling. A house with a pool means paying to maintain it, or spending your weekends scrub scrub, scrub. All these extra factors can add up.

So what is it that makes a home a home.. It is a feeling. This is where the rose coloured glasses definitely come off. It is a sensation of peace on a cozy rainy Sunday, imagining yourself tucked up on my favourite chair watching the rain drip down the glass window, the feeling of relief when you pull into the driveway after a long trip; a quiet kiss on the head of a baby asleep in my lap; the warmth of my partner’s arms as we soak up the sun outside, the dog sitting in his favourite place.

Home has been many places for me over the years, but its comforts are defined by simple, blissful moments like these...

#681 I'm more than just a picture..


As Hailee Seinfeld says. I can swear, I can joke, I say what's on my mind, If I drink, I keep up with the guys. You see me holding up my middle finger to the world. I don't wear ribbons and pearls.  I'm a daughter and a sister, Sometimes it's hard for me to show, There's more to me than people know.  I'm a dreamer, but "I'm not just a pretty girl"..  

I am different in that I appreciate what life has to give me.. Every day, I look for the beauty in life, and yes everday. I smell the breakfast smells coming from our neighbour, I smell the freshly cut grass or the rain that is approaching. I notice life around me everyday.

For example - Have you ever looked up in the sky to see a “V" soaring above your head? No, not a flying alphabet — a flock of birds in formation! Do you just watch them fly by and wonder.. (where are they going, look how many there are...)

These birds are called “migratory birds." The reasons birds migrate vary but typically involve availability of food or weather. In the northern hemisphere, many birds migrate south during the winter months when the weather becomes too cold for them to survive in their northern habitats. Once spring arrives, the birds return to their homes. 
Equally as varied as the reasons for migrating are the ways in which different migratory birds make their journey. Some birds migrate alone, others travel in pairs, and many move in large flocks. 

Song birds often migrate in swarms, while larger birds, such as geese, migrate in formation. Many times this migration takes the form of the letter V. The reason these birds prefer to fly in a V shape has puzzled even scientists for many years. There are two general theories to explain the V-shaped movement. The most accepted theory is that the formation of a flock influences aerodynamics, making it easier for the birds to fly. As the birds flap their wings, the air flowing off their wing tips gives birds in the back of the V an extra lift. This reduces the amount of energy the birds need to fly.. These are the moments in my life i cherish the most.. cause I'm not just a pretty girl..".
