Everyone knows who Sia
Furler is now. “The Woman that hides her face”, Which Alles reminded me of when I arrived for this awesome photo shoot with her yesterday. It was Sia’s smash-hit "Chandelier" that threw her
onto the music map in 2014 and she's been steadily topping charts around the
globe since then. Her songs tend to take on a
life of their own whenever
she releases their accompanying videos — case in point, "Elastic
Heart" with dancer Maddie Ziegler and actor Shia LeBeouf holding starring
roles.
You
might be surprised to learn that Sia's been working in the industry for over 20
years, that she is Australian like both Alles and myself. That she's only become mega-star famous in the last couple of years is
probably amusing to her long-standing fans. My question is why does she hide her face, what is she scared
of. Is it just a stunt to get more attention, or are there are deep seeded
issues? Sia states she shuns the spotlight and chooses to wear a wig in
public, “Because it’s ugly, it makes me feel hunted. “You feel like prey and
they’re the predator and you’re being hunted ... You go into fight or flight. Sia describes her celebrity attention as “unpleasant”, the notoriously
camera-shy star said she only ever wanted a “regular life” while doing what she
loves — making music. “It’s just like wanting to have a regular life just like
a regular person and still be able to make music and sing ... but without
having to sacrifice just having a regular life, that’s all.”
