#903 Dear Diary, I will start my New Year's resolution tomorrow..


New Year’s resolution traditions actually go back to ancient times. So, before you pooh-pooh the idea, let’s remind ourselves why this age-old tradition exists, how to best make a resolution, and how to keep one! The New Year’s resolution tradition is nothing new. The new year is a natural time to reflect and resolve to change or improve how we live our lives. 

In 2000 B.C., the Babylonians celebrated the New Year for 11 days (starting with the vernal equinox). One common resolution was the returning of borrowed farm equipment .. yes that was their resolution back then.  The Babylonian New Year was adopted by the Romans, as was the tradition of resolutions. 
The timing, however, eventually shifted with the Julian calendar to the month of January, which was named for the two-faced Roman god, Janus, who looks forward for new beginnings as well as backward for reflection and resolution.... and this is how it all started.. 

A New Year goal isn’t about magical, sweeping change. It’s simply a time to reflect on your behavior and recogize that lifestyle changes are important. However, change is made one small step at a time... and that’s why I will start tomorrow ;)

#891 When there is coffee there is confidence..


The more you practise confidence, the easier it is to draw on it at the times you really need it, especially for me when I have had a few coffees. The magnetism and euphoria of the hit of caffeine. It really does work.. That's if you like coffee. 

So, let’s get started – your mission this week is to consciously use the 5 C’s of Confidence as often as you can. 

So what are the 5 C’s of Confidence:-
  1. Choice – We all have free will. You are always just a decision away from moving into the life or the thing you desire. 
  2. Courage – Yes, it’s scary to make a decision when you don’t know what the outcome will be. Courage can only exist in the presence of fear. Embrace it and courageously move forward despite the discomfort. 
  3. Create – Take action. Do the thing. A thought or decision alone won’t get you any result.  
  4. Consider – How did I go.. Did it work or not? The good news is you get to decide how you see it. How did it turn out? Are you happy with the result? Awesome! Or 
  5. Could it have gone better? What did you learn? What would you do different next time? What do you now know about yourself and your values/preferences that you didn’t know before?
