#702 Baby, You're not here with me..


Long-distance relationships are particularly interesting precisely because of the twist that geographical separation inevitably gives to a romantic relationship.  Any new love affair raises issues of: When to be together, How to be together, Why be together, and, naturally, When and How and Why to be apart. The tension runs deeper: how much of one’s life does a person want to share with a lover and how much privacy is required?
In a long-distance relationship, availability is, by definition, limited by time and space, becoming an important component of how the relationship can evolve and what is necessary to maintain it.  With geographic distance in the mix, not only do a couple need to confront how much closeness and how much separation they want, they also need to deal with the distance and the difficulty to be close with each other.
Usually, the beginning of a relationship is about getting to know your significant other more and during that time period you are merely enjoying each other’s company without the bickering and without the realisation of their/your daily (bad) habits.  When you are getting to know a person, you sort of have this cloudy fog over your eyes. When the fog lifts it is the little things that start to bug people in relationships, say for example, the leaving up of the toilet seat, or when cleaning teeth sprays the glass with the toothpaste. All of these hidden habits a long distance relationship do not exist. 
he struggle with long distance relationships is just in fact the separation and lack of closeness and getting to know that person on a more personal level, even with their little annoying habits and finding a way to be together.
