#858 The last of the summer days and the little things..

This is about the little things in life and how we should embrace life and appreciate what we have around us, whether it be the fresh air that we breathe, or the wonderful family, amazing friends, a secure job, a healthy/ balanced diet and a roof over our heads. It’s days when it’s raining and you’ve woken up on the wrong side of the bed that sometimes you forget about these wonderful simplistic things.

When your next feeling a little down, or your day might not be going to plan. Remember to tell yourself how great you’re doing. You’re not failing. The life you’re living at the moment is filled with so many amazing things. Remember, that your family love you. Your job lets you learn every day. You have a roof over your head and tomorrow is another day.

Sometimes I worry about what I look like and stare aimlessly into the mirror. I look down at my bloated stomach thinking, “that’s it, I’m so unhealthy, I must go to the gym EVERYDAY or I’m going to die”. (Sorry.. Who invited the drama queen) Everyday which gets thrown at you just learn to embrace it! We all have bad days but these are over ridden by the good days.

Today or tomorrow, when you get out of bed and you’re not feeling 100% positive, or even like myself at the moment being sick with flu. Remember that you are great and you are amazing. If today is a bad day don’t worry. Because tomorrow will be better.....

#682 "What if water was the cure for all illnesses"...

We bath in it everyday, we wash our dishes in it every day, we drink it when we remember, but what if water was the cure for every illness..

They say Water treats migraines, water, Water prevents and helps to cure back pain, Water prevents and helps to cure high blood pressure..

What if drinking more water was all that we needed to do to treat the many illnesses and it has been staring at us for all these many centuries..

#643 “A cold wind was blowing from the north, and it made the trees rustle like living things.”

Given it is Spring here in Australia at present and the horrid, I mean disgusting 45'c heat is on its way. I so miss the start of winter, the autumn leaves falling and the trees all stiffen up and look like they are sleeping. It’s hard to remember why we even try to do things outside when it’s so cold sometimes and honestly compared to most of my European friends, we really don't have that cold a winter. It’s hard to remember why we love winter at all. But we DO love it. Sure, there are things we absolutely hate about it - things we can’t stand! Car windscreens icing up, feeling like your nose will fall off. But for every one thing I hate, there are at least two things I love. So without further ado: the unconventional things I love about winter.

I hate bugs. Haaaate them. Like, bye bugs! Hate you every day! So the fact that for some reason we don’t have bugs during the winter months, or I never see them, makes winter so much more appealing! I don’t know if they hibernate or die, and honestly I don’t care. All I know that they go somewhere; heaven or under my stairs, and stay there until it gets to be about spring again and the flying cockroaches start again. Yes I said Flying… UGgh. Until that time, I live in peace.

BE ACTIVE! I love winter because I get to do things that I wouldn’t normally do! Like doing snowboarding, or skiing after a six hour drive. I adore staying active, getting sunshine, taking in the scenery are all vital parts of enjoying the experience. Winter is really short in Australia, and not like the white winter you have. So one must travel to get some entertainment. If we don’t take advantage of all the good things winter has to offer, then you spend your whole winter just sulking. Participating in things like an ice skating rink, throwing a snowball fight, outdoor hot tubbing, or do anything that gets you off the couch and into some fresh air. I’m not saying you can’t have a lazy day; I do all the time.

To quote one of the greatest movies of all time (ahem Legally Blonde,) “Exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy :)

Once you get past the part where it gets really cold around about August here, you’ll begin to understand why I love winter. There is something about the blue dawn light seeping through our windows, or the chilly mornings that make your bed seem like heaven on earth. You can’t replace the feeling you get when you sit in front of a fireplace talking to your family and friends. Accept the fact that everyone has to deal with it. Winter will be what you make it. So make it count!

#578 Old English Charm..

I was asked the other day to describe my style when decorating in Secondlife.

I can honestly state I change styles constantly. It was hard to suggest just three ways that I décor.

It depends upon the designer themselves and adapting to suit their style with a flair of my own.

To explain, when people state they have a certain décor style, I have no doubt many peruse home décor books, magazines, websites, Pinterest and the like to get certain ideas. Décor is so individual and unique. It can certainly be overwhelming, figuring out what you like and what works in home décor. So below for you are the 5 main types of décor styling available.

Bohemian (“Boho-Chic”) Style: - Bohemian, or boho-chic, style is all about meaningful individuality. It embraces free expression, unconventional displays, and colorful collections. The boho-chic space is where your own personal style and aesthetic shines.

Coastal Style: - Coastal style incarnates everything we love about being on vacation at the beach – the sun, the surf, the sand (although not literally). The style is comfortable and inviting and aims to put people at ease with its genuine charm and serenity.

Contemporary Style: - Contemporary style is based on the concept of the present, the here and now. This style is neither warm and fuzzy nor cold and harsh; it simply is. Clutter is nonexistent in a contemporary space, while the design elements of neutral, clean, smooth, and subtle reign supreme.

Cottage Style: - Cottage style is cozy and charming, like something out of a fairy tale. The quaint style hinges on the simplicity of treasured pieces, whether they are innumerable, tattered, mismatched, or all of those at once. Life feels fuller yet simpler amid a cottage styled space.

Eclectic Style: - Eclectic style embraces freedom of expression, breaking rules, and mixing and matching. Eclectic, more than any other type of home décor style, combines bits and pieces of many other styles and stirs them together into a space that simply, yet ultimately, aims to please the owner.

I guess after reading the above, my style is a combination of all, but most especially, Bohemian, Cottage and Eclectic. I’m very much a shabby type of person and love to break rules and mix and match.  So if I ever get asked again, at least I know now what my style is.  So what is your style?

Arriving at the gorgeous new sim that has a mix of old English country side meets “Cottage Style”, called “Devil's Point – Ellisson” created by the awe inspiring 'Zakk Lusch' , I showcase for you the gorgeous new works of “Dust Bunny” with their beautiful, "Gardenia shed" @ C88, the Floorplan and their pot stack, Zenith “Spring Picnic Basket with Sunflowers”, and Fawny - Forest Does - couple also @ C88, not to mention the stunning works of Little Branch with their Weeping Willow v2 tree @ Shiny Shabby on now!!.

#542 Nothing but me and my ball..

We all seem to be getting more self-obsessed by the day. Turn on your TV or open a web page, and narcissism hits you smack in the face — everything screams ME! ME! ME!
I am trying to live a minimalist life, but that doesn’t mean I still don’t own stuff.

We may be seeking to live a minimalist life, but we are still consumers. After all, to live is to consume. I have worked hard to escape excessive consumerism. Consumerism becomes excessive when it extends beyond what is needed. When we begin consuming more than is needed, boundaries are removed. Personal credit allows us to make purchases beyond our income-level. Advertisements subtly reshape our desires around material possessions and the consumption culture that surrounds us begins to make excessive consumption appear natural and normal.
Excessive consumption leads to bigger houses, faster cars, trendier clothes, fancier technology, and overfilled drawers. It promises happiness, but never delivers. Instead, it results in a desire for more… a desire which is promoted by the world around us and slowly begins robbing us of life.  It redirects our passions to things that can never be fulfilled. It consumes our limited resources, our time and in some cases we look to our neighbours and think why can’t I have what they have.

I have to ask, as long as you are healthy, happy, have the basics, isn’t that enough? I say this as I curse that my computer again is struggling with the graphics in Secondlife. We all want what we sometimes can’t have immediately. It is deciding is this a need or a want. To start to save and take the time to look forward to our little desires.
Imagine if all you wanted was the ball that this little doggie has in the picture above. He needs the obvious basics, food, water and above all to be happy and healthy. Imagine if all the material possession's were just a ball....
I was invited to be a blogger for Little Branch last year and was overjoyed at the opportunity. I love the lushness of their trees, their styles and design and showcase this for you which is the destination for us today: -
