#647 Ode to Daniel..

My niece asked me a question the other day when we were walking along the beach.
Kind of took me by surprise.. She asked, 'Where has Nanna gone?"
My mother died in May this year and I thought that my niece had accepted this news.

When asking this question, It brought up tears in my eyes and thought time to explain again.

I said, All living things — including bugs and fish and people — die. It's difficult, even for grownups, to understand why this must happen. It may be the hardest thing of all to understand.
The best we can do is accept death as a fact of life. It happens, and we can't do anything to change that.

Most of the time people enjoy long, long lives. Lots of people live well into their 70s or 80s,
and some live even longer. Slowly, though, over the course of many years, the human body wears out, just like the tires on an old bicycle or the batteries in your favourite toy.

When important parts of the body — like the heart or lungs or brain — wear out and stop working,
the person most likely will die. When this happens, we say this person died of "old age, and that was the case for Nanna. ( My niece nodded).

Sometimes younger people die. Sometimes a person gets very sick, and despite all the hard work of doctors and medicines, nothing can keep this person's body working.

If a very sick person dies, you may hear the adults around you say that person is better off now
and no longer suffering. Still, every day doctors discover more ways to prevent and treat serious illness, so the chances of a person recovering improve all the time.

My niece put a frown on her face and said I understand with Nanna, but I feel sorry if someone young dies. It must be very hard for them.

Kicking the water, she squeezed my arm and said I'll race you down the beach.
That is the heart and mind of a 6 year old.

To Daniel, Whilst I did not know you in person, but adored being a blogger for you and Anais with Zerkalo, I am thinking of you, and hope you are at peace.

I wish you rest and love till the next time you join us in this world once again <3
